Compensation: $25.00–$32.00 per hour

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join its growing team. This is an on-site, contract-to-hire opportunity in Colorado Springs.

The Accounting Clerk will initially focus on accounts payable, billing, purchasing support, certified payroll, and general office responsibilities. Additional duties may be added as the employee becomes proficient with the organization’s systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Purchasing

  • Process accounts payable accurately and on schedule.
  • Set up new vendors and obtain required W-9 documentation.
  • Process approximately 25–30 invoices during a typical accounts payable run.
  • Support scheduled check runs on the 10th and 25th of each month.
  • Code invoices to the appropriate job or cost category.
  • Allocate invoices that apply to multiple jobs.
  • Perform three-way matching of purchase orders, invoices, and supporting documentation.
  • Follow established approval procedures and internal accounting controls.
  • Assist with vendor certificates of insurance and lien waiver documentation.

Billing & Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare and process customer invoices.
  • Post customer payments accurately.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports.
  • Maintain organized billing and payment documentation.
  • Assist with change-order documentation and related administrative processes.

Office & Administrative Support

  • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries.
  • Distribute incoming mail.
  • Order and maintain office supplies.
  • Assist customers and visitors.
  • Maintain organized accounting and administrative records.
  • Provide additional support to the Office Manager and team as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with accounts payable, customer invoicing, payment posting, or general accounting support.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow accounting procedures, approval processes, and internal controls.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Dependable work ethic and willingness to learn new processes.
  • Comfortable balancing accounting responsibilities with general office support.

Preferred Experience

  • QuickBooks Online.
  • Certified payroll.
  • Construction-related accounting or administrative experience.
