Description of the Position
The Grant Financial Analyst will support financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, analysis, and reporting primarily related to grant funding. This role will work closely with leaders, departments, and finance partners to help manage grant budgets, monitor actual-to-budget performance, analyze financial activity, and ensure spending aligns with organizational goals and compliance expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing grant and general fund financial plans.
  • Support budget and forecast preparation, analysis, and related presentations.
  • Assist with development of grant reports for leadership, departments, and support teams.
  • Analyze grant spending versus budget data, including dollar and FTE variances.
    Prepare and maintain grant budget documentation, files, forecasts, and related records.
  • Maintain grant budgets throughout the fiscal year by updating line items, transferring funds, and communicating changes.
  • Prepare grant exception reports that identify problem areas, summarize key issues, and provide analysis and recommendations.
  • Monitor grant position management activity, track staffing changes, and ensure proper budget sources are used.
  • Review and monitor department grant budgets.
  • Build strong relationships while collaboratively investigating budget variances and facilitating solutions.
  • Maintain and use tools to help departments track grant spending and forecast estimated spending.
  • Participate in the development of procedure manuals and training documents.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal budget owners and stakeholders.
  • Perform special analysis projects and other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field required.
  • 2+ years of progressive accounting or related finance experience.
  • Basic knowledge of financial analysis and modeling.
  • Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to work with accounting systems, ERP systems, and financial software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage accurate financial data.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to work on-site in Colorado Springs, CO.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with grant accounting, government accounting, or fund-based budgeting is helpful but not required.
  • Prior experience in a mission-driven public-sector or community-focused organization is a plus.
