Description of the Position
Our Client is seeking a Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement, purchasing, and planning activities in support of company operations and federal defense contract requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supplier management, purchasing strategy, inventory controls, production planning support, and compliance with applicable FAR, DFARS, DoD, and internal contract requirements.

Schedule
9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

Salary
$140,000–$150,000 annually

Key Role Summary, Duties, and Requirements
The Purchasing Manager will lead procurement and planning functions while ensuring cost-effective, compliant, and timely acquisition of goods and services for defense-related operations. This role includes developing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, conducting vendor research, negotiating pricing and delivery schedules, supporting production planning, monitoring inventory controls, and partnering cross-functionally with finance, operations, engineering, logistics, legal, and program management.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, or a related field, along with 5–7 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience. At least 3 years of experience in a DoD, federal acquisition, or government contracting environment is required. Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, contract compliance, flow-down requirements, supplier management, and procurement risk management is essential.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens with no dual citizenship, willing to work on-site, able to travel domestically 5–10% of the time to vendor sites, and able to pass education verification, a criminal background check, and a 10-panel drug screening.
